Jason Carr

I am a figurative and portrait artist originally from New Zealand, however Manchester has been my home for many years now. My work explores identity, vulnerability, and the raw, unguarded moments that define human connection.

As a queer artist, I'm drawn to the tension between strength and fragility, presence and absence, light and dark expressing the complexities of lived experience through paint.
My paintings have found homes with collectors around the world, something that continues to inspire and
motivate me. Knowing that people connect with the emotion and honesty in my work is incredibly rewarding,
and it pushes me to keep exploring new ways of capturing those quiet, intimate moments that define us.
At its core, my work is about visibility—reflecting the beauty, struggle, and depth of queer existence. It is always evolving, but what remains constant is the drive to explore, push boundaries, and paint with authenticity.
